Before I launch into this week's special feature, I'd like to thank everyone for the recent "Sign-Up for Scene of the Blog" on Twitter. If you've never hosted anything like this, you may not realize that things don't always run smoothly behind the scenes. Many of the book bloggers I'd contacted by email wanted to wait a month or two before being featured. After firing off a Twitter flare, I was able to fill the calendar for the month of July. Thank you!
This week I'm very pleased to feature one of my favorite book bloggers, Anna of Diary of an Eccentric. She's recently made the move to Wordpress and is still tweaking her blog pages, but the content that I enjoy is all there. Some of you may also know that Anna co-hosts War Through the Generations. If you've never had the pleasure of visiting Anna's excellent blog before, I hope you'll make the effort to do so today. Please don't forget to say hello while you're there!
Let's see where Anna does a lot of her oh-so-creative blogging, shall we? Don't forget that you can click on the photo to view it full size.
This is my own little corner of our humble living room where I do most of my blogging. I love my reclining sofa and Reading Comfort lap blanket! Because I sit at a desk in front of a computer all day, I really wanted a blogging space that is comfortable, and it really is relaxing to lean back with my laptop. The end table is where I put the books I've read that need to be reviewed. (I admit that I cleaned up all the school papers The Girl normally throws there.) On the back of the couch you can see the stuffed cat my father gave me shortly before he passed away. No one's allowed to touch it (just ask Serena's poor husband, who thought he was being funny when he bent it into a funny pose...sorry, Cris!) because it's one of the few things I still have that reminds me of him, and I keep it close to me.
I also blog in bed sometimes, but I'm definitely not showing a picture of the cluttered space where all my books are kept. We're planning on buying new furniture, including some bookshelves, over the summer, so maybe once it's been redone...
But I can show you my desk at work, where I sometimes blog during my lunch break. You can see The Girl is responsible for the decor; she's always drawing or coloring pictures for me to hang up. Off to the right, you can see where I keep the book I'm reading and whatever book I brought to review. And beyond the cubicle wall to the right sits my good friend Serena of Savvy Verse & Wit. We actually do share an office in real life! You may not be able to tell from the picture, but we actually have a huge office with windows behind us that look out onto a pond. If only we didn't have the cubicle and could situate our desks to take advantage of the view!
Perhaps Anna and Serena could put up a small web cam so they could enjoy that view without moving their cubicles? Yeah. I know. It was just a thought! I love the fact that, after much thought and many applicants, Anna chose The Girl as her interior designer. The look is great, isn't it?
I love the color of Anna's couch and that Reading Comfort lap blanket. I must also confess that the couch looks so comfortable that I think I'd catch a lot more Z's sitting on it than I would catch turned pages in books! Thanks so much for this glimpse into your blogging world, Anna. We really appreciate it!
Who will be the next to be featured on Scene of the Blog? Stop by next Wednesday to see for yourself!
Fun to see where you blog Anna :D
ReplyDeleteBlodeuedd: Thanks! I wish I was curled up with a book on my couch right now.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was on that couch instead of in the office right now! Then I could nap...I mean read. Finally, we see your spaces!
ReplyDeleteSerena: I could use a nap myself! We'd be fighting over the lap blanket, I'm sure. ;P
ReplyDeleteLovely blogging area, it looks quite comfortable! And great choice of The Girl as decorator :)
ReplyDeleteAmy: Thanks! She certainly had a lot of fun, and it kept her occupied during the few days she spent with us in the office. You can't see it in the pic, but one of the papers she tacked to the cubicle wall has a plastic knife and spoon taped to it. LOL
ReplyDeleteVery neat and organized! When I drag my blogging stuff to my chair, it ends up looking like a big rat's nest! Great to see you on here Anna!
ReplyDeleteSandy: Thanks! You should see the space now. Behind the lamp is where we put the new bookshelf, since it's the only place it would fit. And I have a backlog of books to review, so the table is a mess. LOL
ReplyDeleteLovely home space -- I like to sit on the couch with the netbook, too -- same reason. After a full day at a desk with a desktop, I want something more cozy.
ReplyDeleteToo funny that Serena is just on the on the other side of the wall!
Beth F: Thanks! I've only been at work for a couple of hours and already I'm thinking about reclining with my laptop later this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad we share an office. Without our through-the-cubicle-wall chats, I'd be bored out of my mind!
I love seeing Anna's space - she's a great person and blogger!
ReplyDeleteKathy: Thanks! You're so sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteAmazingly neat in both spaces! I'm very impressed! I might have to hire Anna to organize my life...
ReplyDeleterhapsodyinbooks: Thanks! I like to keep my desk at work neat, but I must admit that the table in my blogging space at home is usually cluttered (with books, of course). I did straighten up a bit before the photo was taken. If only I really were that organized all the time!
ReplyDeleteOnly good things can come from such a cozy space. And your office! My goodness, you're organized.
ReplyDeleteMary: Thanks! I try to be organized, but more times than not, I fail.
ReplyDeleteWhat comfy couch to blog on! And how fun that work right next to another book blogger - so cool! Fun post!
ReplyDeleteAmused: Thanks! Only another hour of work left until I can make my way toward the couch. I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI think it's fun to work with Serena, but I'm not sure our co-worker in the neighboring office appreciates our lunchtime chats. ;)
Loved seeing where you blog, Anna! Your reading sofa looks exactly like my sofa, reclining portion and all - except mine's a hunter green!
ReplyDeletei just recently discovered Anna's blog and enjoy reading it so its nice to see the behind the scenes. Great spot Anna.
ReplyDeleteLooks like both spaces are comfy and yours..love that The Girl has contributed to your walls at work!
ReplyDeleteAnna do you and Serena get any work done being next to each other at work?! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the glimpse!
Beautiful! I could definitely do some blogging on that comfy couch, and the blogging at work thing is one of my specialties. :)
ReplyDeleteBelle: Thanks! Sounds like we both have great taste. ;)
ReplyDeleteCindy: Thanks! I appreciate it.
Staci: Thanks! You should see how she tapes things randomly on the living room wall at home and uses magnets to hang pics on the back of the front door. :)
Iliana: Amazingly, we actually get a lot done. I think it helps that we're not bored because we can chat and that they put us on a lot of the same projects because we work well together.
Andi: Thanks! Glad to know I'm not alone in blogging at work.
Thanks so much for sharing, Anna! Your sofa looks very comfy! And oh, how cool it is that you and Serena share an office!! :D
ReplyDeleteMelody: Thanks! Sometimes it's a little too comfy (I just woke up from a 3 hour nap, LOL). And it definitely is nice to have someone to talk about books with.
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing Anna...up close and personal. It's nice to see where she works and her comfy comfy looking couch. I would be sleeping.
ReplyDeleteWisteria: Thanks! Sometimes the couch is too comfy, like after a long day at work, but I wouldn't change a thing.
ReplyDeleteGreat space Anna! That couch looks so comfy. Mine is like that too so I generally try to stay away from it if I'm tired or I fall asleep. lol. It looks like you have a window there to look out of too which is always nice.
ReplyDeleteYour work cubicle looks exactly like mine when I used to work in the office. I also had floor to ceiling windows behind me which weren't always a joy in either the summer or winter - either too hot or too cold. lol.
I also blog from the comfort of my couch - I sometimes worry about the ergonomics of it but being comfortable is so worth it!
ReplyDeletenice to see your space!
Dar: Thanks! The window is nice for the light, but from my place on the couch, I can't see much. The bird feeder is nice, though.
ReplyDeleteBooksnyc: Thanks! It feels much better on my back than the office chair, though.
I wish I had a spot that comfy to blog from! I might actually get more blogging done and blogs read if I did.
ReplyDeleteKris: Well, sometimes it's a bit too comfy. ;)
