I'm really happy to be featuring Jennifer of The Literate Housewife this week. She's been ensconced in my Google Reader almost since I first started blogging a year and a half ago. I absolutely love her blog design, and sometimes have to visit just to take a look at it and at the cover art she displays. But of course, Jennifer's blog isn't merely about appearance; there's a lot of substance there as well. She has thoughtful book reviews, shares her opinion of Life With Kindle, and plays an important part in the book blogging community. If you aren't acquainted with The Literate Housewife, please stop by and say hello to Jennifer!
You know what time it is, don't you? Time for me to pipe down and swing the camera over to Jennifer's corner of Virginia so you can see where The Literate Housewife is created. Don't forget... you can click on the photo to view it full size.
Take it away, Jennifer!
As a mother of two young daughters, I have to make time and space for my blogging. I don't have a dedicated room. Instead, I perch myself on the chaise lounge in the living room to do most of my reading and blogging. It's super soft and comfy, so there are no complaints from me. I am subjected to a lot of Qubo, Hannah Montana, iCarly, and Drake & Josh while I'm blogging. I'm actually pretty surprised that I haven't subliminally added lyrics to those theme songs in my posts. If I do, please kindly point them out so that I don't have egg on my face for too long.In the picture, I've straightened up the coffee table, but it is usually stacked high with books needing review or waiting to be read. My kids also like to leave their books there, too. As I'm writing, there is a baby doll comb, Lady & the Tramp View-Master card, Disney Princess makeup set, and several press kits around, too. I do not blog in the neatest area most of the time, but that suits me.I would really like to thank Cathy for honoring me this way. I love this series and I hope that you enjoy your little peek at my blogging space.
I don't know about any of the rest of you, but I'm so tired that all I have to do is take one look at that chaise lounge and my eyelids get unbearably heavy. It's upholstered in one of my favorite shades of brown and just looks so.......zzzzzzz....
Where was I?
I know that photo makes Jennifer's blogging space look peaceful and relaxing, but my mind's eye can also see its alter ego. You know... with the coffee table piled high with books and Disney and princess paraphernalia and press kits. And a busy mom who's just sat down and put her feet up. She's had this idea for a blog post nibbling at the edges of her mind all morning, and if she can just squeeze in a couple of minutes......
Thanks so much for sharing your creative space with us, Jennifer. We really appreciate it!
Don't forget to stop by next week when I'll be featuring the creative space of another member of the book blogging community.
That couch looks soooooo comfy...I'm not sure I'd ever get any blogging or reading done as I'd be too busy snoozing.
ReplyDeleteYup comfy :D
ReplyDeleteLol, I would thought that something would have sneaked into your posts from those shows. Good to keep focused
Jennifer's posts do have a lot of substance and her blog is worth visiting. There seems to be a lot of coziness going on there and I know exactly what she's talking about with the kids' shows on. I only have one child but there was a time I could out-talk any adult at my work as far as Disney Channel shows go (although the one Jennifer mentions are Nick).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, as usual, great post, great blogging spot and I bet it's still cozy even if it's not straightened up like that :)
Now I never said I didn't fall asleep there... LOL! Thanks so much to all of you. I am glad that my blog has the same cozy feel as my blogging space.
ReplyDeleteThat's the perfect blogging set-up. I just love that cozy little corner with foot rest.
ReplyDeleteI just want to curl up there and take a nap right now! No wonder Jennifer has such well-written, thoughtful posts! Because she is so comfortable (as I sit here in my hard wooden chair with the cats climbing on me).
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I want to come read and blog at your house. I'm in an office chair!
ReplyDeleteI'm totally jealous of Jennifer's chaise lounge - I keep telling Carl I need one!
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I could spend some hours there.
ReplyDeleteYep, if I stretched on that cozy lounge, I think I'd spend more time sleeping than reading and blogging!

ReplyDeleteIt's funny because those of us with kids end up blogging right in the middle of it all. I guess we're able to tune it all out. I know my kids were rebel if I went to my room or something.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure my next couch is going to have a chaise like that. I have my feet up in the recliner all the time anyway!
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed that her area is so clean! I really want to lie in that chaise lounge right now. Alas, I have to get back to work!
ReplyDeleteGreat chaise lounge! We have a very similar one in our cottage, and I also love sprawling there with my book and my laptop.
ReplyDeleteBut you need not have removed your books before inviting ME in. LOL
I'm glad I'm not the only one living with kids' clutter! :) That couch seat looks so cozy!
ReplyDeleteI've tried blogging via laptop, but find that I just love typing on a regular keyboard too much to give it up.
What a comfy place to blog. I loved reading the description of the girl's clutter. Now that my kids are grown, somehow that clutter seems endearing to me.
ReplyDeleteI love Jennifer's blog, and it's very nice to see where she puts it together. Much more comfy-looking than my kitchen island :-). I think Ti's on to something in her comment about moms having their blogging space in the middle of everything.
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of Jennifer's blog. You can see she puts alot of effort into it. I love her space too very warm and inviting and comfy. So jealous of your little spot.
ReplyDeleteJennifer I can relate to the Drake & Josh and ICarly as my son watches those when i am either reading or blogging.
Thanks Cathy for highlightening another great blogger. :)
I love the attached ottoman - what a great invention!
ReplyDeletevery comfy.
ReplyDeletetoo comfy maybe. I would be asleep in ten minutes if I sat there. ;-)
All of your comments make me feel so lucky to have my chaise lounge. We do love it. Our couch is shaped like a U. The other end has a recliner, but I love the chaise lounge. I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteTi, you are so right about getting more done in the same room that I would if I were off by myself. As soon as they discovered I was missing they would be too curious to know what I was doing. Sitting in the same room I have a chance of being ignored for a little while. LOL!
I really appreciate all of your comments. Thanks again to Cathy for putting me blogging space in the spotlight today. It made the mid-week that much more bearable.
I blog from a chair/ottoman combo, so I can totally relate to Jennifer's space! Her chaise looks more comfy, though...wonder if she'd like to trade?
ReplyDeleteWow you weren't kidding about that couch, it looks so comfy for sleeping!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how many bloggers use laptops!
That couch looks so comfy - I could imagine myself telling my husband I'm reading, but then a couple minutes in I would be snoozing away. It seems to me you have the perfect blogging space for a mother of two young kids.
ReplyDeleteHow Comfy-I am usually at the kitchen table or on the couch-but I really want an oversized chair with an ottoman.
ReplyDeleteLooks very cozy!! When I get my laptop, I'll be blogging from the living room recliner. :)
