Scene of the Blog Featuring Kristi of Books and Needlepoint!

This week I'd like to extend a big welcome to Kristi of Books and Needlepoint. I have to admit that I was first drawn to her blog just by its name because I like needlepoint, too. (Books are a given around here!)

Kristi is a very busy stay-at-home mom who somehow manages to find time to blog about her favorite books, participate in a meme or two, host giveaways, and have authors stop by for a chat. How she manages to find the time, I'll never know!

If you haven't stopped by Books and Needlepoint before, I hope you take the time to do so. Say hi to Kristi while you're at it!

Once again it's time for the spotlight to swing over to Kristi's blogging spot. If you'd like to see the photo full size, all you have to do is click on it. Now...let's see where this busy mom blogs!

Our living room is actually a living room and a dining room - but I don't know many people who use formal dining rooms any more - so ours houses the computer, a piano - which isn't visible from the picture and some kid's toys. Up until about a month ago the computer desk was on the opposite wall, but we have since had French doors put in and to open them, the desk had to be moved. I actually like it better here as my family is usually in the room the desk is facing now - so when I am blogging I feel like I am more a part of them and not sitting with my back to them! It also means I can watch TV while I blog.

I chose not to straighten up the area as lately this seems to be the state that it is in. I have been behind in posting about books I receive (see stack next to the trays on the right), Library Loot was also missed this week (short stack right next to the desk on the right). On the left of the desk is a box of books that are available for Paperback Swap, more library books, books waiting to be reviewed and books that are next up to read. I also have my ANG notebook and my MOPS notebook there.

There on the shelf under the desk that were either purchased at library second hand store or received through Paperback Swap! Also note the timer on the desk - this is placed there so that my kids don't lose track of time when they are online - when the timer goes off - so does the computer! (My husband has threatened to start making me use it too.) You can also see that the calendar still says Nov 10 when these pictures were taken Nov 14 - I am perpetually days behind! I spend a lot of time at the desk as that is where I usually pay bills and keep my calendar up to date - so if I need to get to something, it is usually in one of the piles on the desk!

I like how Kristi was brave and didn't do very much straightening up. As far as I'm concerned, her space just looks like it's being used by a busy family. Believe me, I've seen a whole lot worse (including my very own space)!

It also looks like a Mom Space to me. Kristi can sit there and pay bills, blog about books, mark her latest Paperback Swap acquisition as received and look for a recipe online, but she's right in the heart of her family. She can see what everyone's doing, she can join in the conversation, and she can see and hear what's making everyone else laugh on the television.

Thanks so much for letting us take a peek at your blogging space, Kristi. We really appreciate it!

Don't forget to stop by next Wednesday when another book blogger will show us her creative space!

    Sheila - Thanks!

Bermudaonion - I need to change my header again - guess Halloween's over! I need to find something winter themed now.

  9. Beth - thanks for being so polite and calling my mess "comfortable-looking" :)

Mary - Thanks for visiting my blog and always leaving wonderful comments!

Luanne - the time idea works for the most part (unless I leave the room and my older daughter sneaks some more minutes!)

Heather - Good to see you here - thanks for coming over and taking a look!

  10. Hey - that is a great idea with the timer! I need one of those. It is really easy to ignore my internal timer when it doesn't come with a really obnoxious alarm clanging away ;0)

  15. I like that bit about living room and dining room. It is impossible for a poor foreigner to figure out when it is a living, dining or sitting room :D
