I was originally drawn to Lindsay's blog because of its title. Heaven knows I have a few rooms in my own house that are furnished with books! But as I began to look deeper, I found someone who not only blogs about books, but about nature and travel--two more things that are close to my heart. When you visit Books Do Furnish a Room, you can read a wide range of posts, from Jane Austen heroines to buying textiles in Jordan. If you haven't checked out Lindsay's blog, please do so!
What does Lindsay's blogging space look like? Here's your chance to find out! Remember, you can click on the photo to view it full size.
As to my workspace, its not very interesting and is very hard to photograph - but here's a collage which might be useful. My desk is small and untidy, but it overlooks the garden - and is cramped up in a room with just a few of my books - reference, science, history, maps and literary criticism - but the room is so small I can't show the whole thing very well! You approach it down a narrow corridor, also full of books (mainly thrillers and crime); I work with the radio on, often late at night. It's always Radio 3, but quite often I don't listen live, but listen to programmes on the BBC i-player, with Late Junction with Verity Sharp a particular favourite. In fact, I write the blog in lots of other places, too - very frequently on a train (I spend a lot of time on trains) or next to the Aga in a cottage in Dorset. But wherever I am, there are books overflowing, and I hope some of the joy I find in them makes it through the keyboard and into the blog!
Don't worry, Lindsay. Your joy does shine through. If I were coming down that corridor to speak with you, I think I'd get distracted by those books and forget all about what it was that I had to say! I love the fact that you sit at your desk and are able to look out the window. Although your desk is a bit untidy, it's the sort of untidy that makes me smile--not the sort that makes me run away in fright. And I love those teddy bears! Thank you so much for allowing us this peek into your creative space. We appreciate it!
Where are we going for the next Scene of the Blog? Don't tell anyone, but I think we'll be going to California to visit Wendy of caribousmom!
I love the books! I think it's best to blog in a place surrounded by books. I'm off to visit Lindsay!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lovely space. What could be more home-y than lots and lots of books?
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of being surrounded with books!
ReplyDeleteThe bookshelves down the hall look wonderful to me.
ReplyDeleteLovely space. I especially love the thought of looking over the garden while writing.
ReplyDeleteIt looks cozy and delighful and a room I would want to have in my house!!
ReplyDeleteNow that is my kind of work space! I love having all my stuff close by. In my opinion, "messy" is a relative term. I can see that this is a woman who loves to read and to write about it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely space :D
ReplyDeleteit looks like home
Looks like a perfect place to blog! I love the piles of books because that's what my house looks like!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear people like my workplace - but, Margot, "Lindsay" is a boy!!
