Scene of the Blog-- Lilly of Reading Extravaganza!

This week it's time to visit one of the nicest people in New York state, Lilly of Reading Extravaganza. I don't know which of us was first to leave a comment on the other's blog, and I don't care. I consider myself lucky to have met such a very caring and giving person. Her Borrowed Words on Monday always gives me something to think about, something to laugh about, or something to feel--sometimes all at once. Lilly works as an interpreter/translator when she's not blogging about books or doing other things in her busy life, so her blogging space serves double duty. Like many of us book bloggers, she can also be found on Twitter.

Without further ado, let's take a look at Lilly's space and see what she has to say about it! (Don't forget that you can click on the photo to view it full size.)

This is my blog space as well as my work space. There are always snacks (popcorn, this time); my iPod in case I want to listen to something; my German dictionary and a book in German, as I'm also trying to refresh my dusty knowledge of this language; a notebook with little skulls on it (how juvenile of me, I know, I know) in case I have all my brain cells working at once supplying me with brilliant ideas; a pocket monthly calendar from a funeral home (don't even ask); a season of 'Friends' (my absolute, favorite show) and my dreadful reading glasses which I absolutely refuse to wear until my eyes start watering and I cannot read a single word.

It looks to me as though Lilly has everything she needs right at hand for long blogging or translating sessions! Jenners made a comment on the last Scene of the Blog to the effect that this series "satisfied [her] inner Peeping Tom". Not only did that remark crack me up, it made me realize that this series does exactly that for me as well. One thing that I always look for, if the blogger has provided a shot of their monitor, is how many icons she/he has on the screen. Weird, huh?

Thanks for stopping by this week to take a look at Lilly's space. I really appreciate her opening her home to us, even if it was just a tiny peek! Don't forget to stop by next week, when we'll be taking a look at a book blogger's space Down Under: Kerrie of Mysteries in Paradise!

  1. Ich muss auch mehr auf Deutsch lesen...tue ich aber nie. Ich bin einfach sehr viel schneller auf Englisch.

I have a ton of icons on my desktop right now. I need to do some spring cleaning ;)

  4. Hi Cathy, thank you for the kind words about me and my blog. And thank you for featuring me in this wonderful idea of yours. I think it's awesome! Lenore: I really have to get myself together and re-learn German all over again, like you, I am so much faster in English.
Blodeuedd: Ich auch hat Deutsch in dem Schule gelernt. All the way to college.

  8. I guess I'm a Peeping Tom too because I really like this weekly feature that lets me see where others are doing their blogging. This space looks very comfortable, like you could spend hours there. You probably do. And, so nice to see the popcorn - one of my favorite food groups.

  11. Kathy--I'm so glad you're checking out Lilly's blog. One of the reasons I wanted to do this feature is not just to highlight the well-trafficked blogs, but to introduce some of the lesser-known ones as well. There are so many fantastic book bloggers out there!

    You're welcome, Luanne!

Margot--that's one of my favorite food groups, too!

  13. Ich habe auch Deutsch im Gymnasium gelernt - also Franzosisch.

It was great being a language learner - still is. You spoke of our inner peeping toms, but I also have an inner mimic that delights in accents!

Thank you Lilly - I also liked your analogue clock on the screen!

  14. Thank you all guys. I am blushing now. I love it that you like the space and i agree, I probably even repeat myself, I love what Cathy's doing. It's a wonderful way to spotlight bloggers.
As far as glasses go, I'm afraid I'll have to lay down my arms soon for good :(, and I also count popcorn among my favorite food groups, especially when i get antsy because I don't know what to write, I stuff my mouth like crazy withthis thing.

  15. Never visited her before! She sounds a bit like me with the fact that she has everything she may need on hand (snacks in my case are usually some kind of candy though!)

  18. Ach de Leiber.

I'm sure there are about 1,000 things wrong with that but I had a boyfriend in college who studied German and he always said this. I hope I didn't just say something rude!

I love the idea of snacks. A must have to keep the brain cells working. I think I may have cleaned mine up for the photo I sent you!

And as a new owner of bifocals, I can tell you that my life is much better since I just gave in and realized I needed the extra help.

Another great Scene of the Blog! My inner Peeping Tom is satisfied until next week! ; )

  19. Bev--Thank you for stopping by. I'm looking forward to "seeing" you next week!

Kristi--I'm so glad that I introduced you to Lilly's blog!

Jenners--I've worn bifocals for years. Don't know what I'd do without 'em. (Actually I do, but I don't like to think about it!) I'm looking forward to seeing both you and "Tom" next Wednesday!

  20. Sounds like a great working space. The popcorn looks yummo! Can you tell I'm trying to heat healthier?

Cathy - I like to look at the monitors too, I like to see if the icons are just everywhere or if the person has them organized (mine probably look they are everywhere but boy oh boy do I have them organized.)
